About the Author
Laurence Fearnley is the author of six novels. Her second novel, Room, was shortlisted for the Montana New Zealand Book Awards in 2001. She has been awarded several fellowships, notably the 2004 Artists to Antarctica fellowship, the 2006 Island of Residencies fellowship in Tasmania, and the 2007 Robert Burns fellowship at the University of Otago.Based in Dunedin, she is currently working on the third book in her southern trilogy.

Loved it

This is one of my favourites. A well written, beautifully spun story based in New Zealand's rural Canterbury and on the slopes of Mount Cook. I love this story and could not put the book down.
The story covers the life of a Boden Black as he discovers nature, poetry and relationships. At times the beauty in the book was so totally awe-inspiring that I could smell the fresh snow on the slopes of Cook.
Definitely the best New Zealand book that I have read to date.

A good read, gentle and beautiful. Once I went to NZ, and the Milford Sound, I felt the wonder of this book more deeply.
