I received this for my honest review, Get your tissues out, I haven't read something so sad in a long time. In this story Courtney is the main character and was abused by her stepfather as a child, her life is happier now and she is determined not to let her past traumas ruin it but inside she feels like she doesn't belong in their world because of her terrible upbringing. She's obviously afraid of getting hurt again, afraid that the deep dark secrets of her past will come back to ruin everything she holds dear. This is a brilliant story of friendship, love and finding the strength to move forward and second chances of facing your demons no matter how much they may hurt. Courtney tells us about her new life that she made without any help from authorities and in this you can see there are still some bumps in her life but with her close friend and a cat that hates almost everyone except Courtney she gets through but she is still uneasy in her relationships. This will definitely pull at your heart.......

Sometimes people are able to make a better life without lots of help

You don't need to read the previous books (Taking Chances and Making Choices). I have not read the previous books but I think there are spoilers in this book (relationships between the characters). Get your tissues out for chapter one. I haven't read anything so sad since I read the In Death (by J.D. Robb) book that told about Eve's childhood (major character in all the books). Starting chapter two, Courtney tells us about her new life that she made without any help from authorities. There are still some bumps in her life but she has a close friend and a cat that hates almost everyone except Courtney. She is still somewhat uneasy in her relationships.

History as it needs to be written.

Cockcroft's honest, unambiguous writing is a testament to truth-telling in the tradition of Howard Zinn; highly informative and inspiring. I would recommend it as a primer for anyone who wants to connect the dots between the struggle of Mexicans being exploited in the tony restaurants of New York City and the fury of an Arizona redneck police force profiling every brown-skin person driving to work; the investment banker living a luxurious life-style in Manhattan and the small businessman going out of business in a Mexican border town; the Mexican veggies we drop into our cart at the local supermarket and malnutrition in just about every Mexican state. What I most appreciate about Cockcroft's writing is the consistency of the contextual historical content, with an efficiency of language other authors take volumes to reveal - Cockcroft does it in 141 tightly written pages (he may also, of course, have a great editor). It's a short little book to which I will keep returning when I lose my way trying to navigate the historical and present complexity of a country that is as rich as it wanting in economic, social, and political justice for the vast majority of its people; not unlike the good-old-USA.

This book explains all the basics about dinosaurs in simple vocabulary easily understood by kids: herbivores vs carnivores, the 3 periods, the particularities of the main dinosaurs. My daughter loves this book and I do too.

Information overload!

This book is super cute, but it has a lot of information in it. Tons of pictures and words all over the place. It was almost too much to keep track of. I wish it were a little less overwhelming. My 6 year old likes it, which was the point!

Excellent Reading

I started reading not knowing what to expect. I am new to the industry and the broker I am working for follows the Kellar-Williams philosophy to a T. I love the corporate structure and the progression that one can follow in this book. It is a fast, easy read and most helpful. While I have plenty of years in sales, for fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies and major universities, I can see how this would be a new venture for me. As a beginner, I feel it is a great way to be introduced to the field of Real Estate. I highly recommend it, especially to those who have been in sales in another field.

Informative but a little long winded

If you are just starting out in Real Estate this is not the book for you. Careful it does read like a work book and the author gets a little long winded when he is talking about something off subject. Plenty of useful knowledge for new agents and would suggest you read after being in the industry a few months or in tandem with coaching.

Surprised by how awesome this was!

I was actually quite surprised by how beneficial this book was. I was kind of expecting fluff and some hooey, to be honest, but I'm in a book club that read it and I wanted to participate. Mid way through the book, I was seeing some major differences in my life, including victory over some bad habits I had struggled with for years. THIS BOOK ROCKS.

I highly recommend it for anyone -- we all have areas of life that would benefit from healthy self talk. This book is the real deal; it's not about creating riches from nothing or magic spells. It shows, step by step. how to take your thoughts captive, reprogram your thinking, and gain victory over the most important part of your body: your mind.

This book could change your life like it has mine

This book has been a life saver for me. 3 months after my husband ran off with another woman I found myself falling into a cycle of obsessive angry and vengeful think. I was trying to get my life on track but was consumed by intense negative thoughts that just sapped all my energy and made me feel helpless. I have always been the type of person who feels that life is somehow against me, that other people have it easier and I am the type of person who never forgives or forgets.

In the last few months I've used a number of self-help techniques that have been great but it was the angry thoughts inside my head I desperately needed to get rid of before I did something stupid.

I started looking for books on changing thought patterns and when I read the blurb for this book and some of the reviews it convinced me to give it a go. That was 6 weeks ago and by adopting some of the techniques in this book I have utterly transformed my life.

I had no idea how much I mentally or verbally beat myself up all the time. This book has opened up a world of possibilities for me. Every day, most of the day I either talk to myself out loud, in my head or on tape and all I say are positive things. Over and over I repeat positive things. Initially I was yelling at myself to just drown out the negative thoughts bouncing back but over the weeks I have become considerably quieter.

I'm now blown away by how many negative people there are in this world. I hear constant negative things from people and I never heard any of this before. In fact, I think I was one of the worst culprits for negative self talk. Suddenly people are smiling at me and seeking out my company, the most incredibly lucky things are happening to me and things that I couldn't do because I wasn't capable before are suddenly a breeze.

I don't really know how it has happened but 6 months after my husband walked out, I now feel happier than I ever have before. I feel so completely in control of my life and my thoughts. I can't wait to start creating the story of my future.

This book is not the most well written book and there are a lot of things repeated, but if you take on board what is being said, you'll understand that that repetition is designed not only to get the messages into your head but also to build a complete picture of what you need to do.

Seriously, if your struggling to find happiness in life or to get your life moving forward after some kind of trauma, then read this and just drown yourself in it as I did. Don't hang onto hurt. You won't believe how wonderful it feels when you stop beating yourself up.

It seems like more of the same affirmations hype but this is it. The real deal. Little by little my life changes according to the things I tell myself. Everything you say is important. I didn't think I needed help on my self esteem but for simplicity's sake I started with a script for self esteem and I'm feeling my new beliefs and attitudes affect my every day life. Just try it out and give it an honest effort.
