Worst casebook I've encountered

Literally the worst case book I've used in my three years of law school. Sure, it is a hard topic/class. But it's as if the authors intentionally make things more obfuscated than they need to be. Very, very terrible presentation that would benefit greatly from some heavy editing by a research assistant. Every single other piece of literature attempting to explain corporate taxation does so in an infinitely better and clearer fashion than this terrible casebook... Would give zero stars if possible.

Great Reference Book for Airsoft!

This is a very detailed book on Airsoft Combat Tactics highly recommendable to airsoft players who want to excel in airsoft not only as an individual but also as a team, squad, even to a platoon or company level. It covers safety, tactics, formation, doctrine, etc.

One of the best subjects in this book is about the application of Soviet tactics which is highly usable in airsoft fields where most players are used to Western type tactics, organization and maneuvers. The book discusses real world vs. airsoft gaming conditions, what is applicable and what is not, what works and what does not. It also discusses about the reality of limited range of airsoft rifles and how tactics can be affected by it. It also discusses about choice of airsoft weapons, fire teams, squads and chain of commands.

The book tells the reader right at the beginning that this book is not gospel but a guide. It encourages the reader to use common sense and find out what works and does not work in airsoft. However, it is still packed with good information where the serious airsoft player can really improve at this game not only increase his rate of fire (ROF).

The authors is a former Marine with a lot of experience. He used several references including Army and Marine manuals. The author approaches the book with realism and emphasis on how one could better play the game of airsoft.

I have also purchased the Book of Comm to complement The Book of Tactics. I play the game, applied some of the tips and tactics. This is a must have reference for not only airsoft players but also teams, and organizers as well. I look forward to the other upcoming books on airosft by W. S. Frisbee on Kindle. For those considering buying this book I support the author's recommendation of buying the Kindle Edition due to updates in future.

Update: This is book deserving a 5-star rating due to extensive content put into it. Those that gave it lower rating may have been so careless or didn't really read it in-depth, do not understand firefights and tactics as a trained soldier. This is not a typical manual or how to do it guide book. It's one borne out of experience and common sense.

A very good guide to team tactics

This book is the second in a series called the Airsoft Bible. It is more detailed and comprehensive than the "Book of Comms" and it twice as long. The subject is more complex and the author covers it with humour. The section on airsoft safety covers all aspects in great detail.

Excellent book

I have just read this book and I can say it is a really good guide for Airsoft tactics. It opens your mind in such a way you want to play the second after you finish the book. It uses a very easy vocabulary and it is sometimges funny too

I just think it could have more images and illustrations. I can't wait for the other books like the book of warrior, mout, night games... I'll buy them all for sure.

Very enlightening........

I enjoyed reading Dr Siegel's book, as it contained a wealth of real-life stories from first to last chapter with facts that many doctors choose to ignore. I have the highest respect for doctors, but they tend to think strictly in terms of science, with little or no consideration of the human spirit as it relates to healing. I worked at a VA Hospital for 35 years and witnessed much of what Dr Siegel shared in his book. He's right in saying that the Inner Pulse of humans is not found in a medical textbook, but rather it is a skill which is honed to a fine art by physicians who are willing to listen to and communicate effectively with patients. Excellent read. Highly recommend.

Sorry to be harsh, but there's something ill-conceived here. If you have a hunger for healing, this book is curiously vacuous. I get the feeling, and this is only my opinion, Siegel wants to occupy space in the world voodoo medicine, as if he fears he'll go down in history as just an ordinary "western medicine" guy. There are tangible analogs to his vague and even florid notion of an "inner pulse", actually found in acupuncture, and whose effects can be accessed with heart-rate variability testing, and learning about these and the like was much more satisfying to me. I recommend reading "The Healing Code", by Alex Lloyd and Ben Johnson, from which this book is apparently in various ways derived.

Thought provoking book and relevant

I recently finished reading The Inner Pulse and wanted to tell everyone that I thought it was a very intriguing read and well worth what I spent on it. It certainly made me think a lot. I'd also like to share a bit of my story.

First off, I don't have a life threatening illness. I am a 46 year old female who lives in Texas and works in the IT industry. 5 years ago after much struggle to advance myself, I managed to be recruited by my current company to do the type of work that I have always wanted to do. I was working with some great people and absolutely threw myself into my work to learn all that I could. At the time, my children were of high school age and up. I am happily married for 26 years and have a very loving relationship with my husband and children. 5 years ago as I was starting this new job, I noticed that I was tired all the time and had started gaining a lot of weight. I ignored it thinking that this was caused by the strain of leaning so much new information and not being very active. However, one day I noticed that I felt like I had something stuck in my throat when I swallowed. The feeling did not go away for several days so I went to see my doctor who found out that I had nodules growing in my thyroid. I went to ultrasounds and had other tests and finally was referred to an Endocrinologist in Dallas. My Endocrinologist sent me though another round of tests and finally performed a biopsy on the largest nodule. My results show that I have no signs of cancer and all my blood tests show that my thyroid is within normal thresholds. This is good.

However, I continued to gain weight (to me it was rapid and alarming). I am 5'7" and 5 years ago was about 155lbs. I gained weight until I finally weighed about 210lbs. My regular doctor and the Endocrinologist both told me that there was nothing wrong with me and that I simply had to be more active. I kept telling them that I felt that there is something wrong with my thyroid and that I needed them to think outside the box for me. I exercised more with no change in weight. This was highly unusual for me. I pulled my diet down in calories and managed to lose 8 lbs but the second that I ate a bit more than usual, I gained it all back. My husband and I bought the P90X program and started it but ended up injuring ourselves while doing the strenuous exercises. It was so unusual for me to not be able to lose weight that I was really beginning to despair that I would not be able to correct my weight. To compound things, my injuries from P90X had inflamed my hip flexors and I found that I could not run without lots of pain. I was terrified that if I went to my regular doctor that he would put me on pain meds or send me out for surgery and I would never lose weight. I finally ended up completely disgusted with myself. I had difficulty looking at myself in the mirror and ended up in tears many times at clothing stores when I had to buy larger sizes. I basically stopped having relations with my husband because I felt so ugly. I told my daughter that I had nothing to look forward to and began drinking quite a bit.

One day at work, a young man came into the office passing out business cards. His name is Dr. Andrew Oteo and he is a Chiropractor who was just starting his practice on the same floor as my company and he was looking for patients. I had never been to a Chiropractor and actually had a good bit of fear of them. I told him at the time that I needed someone to help me with the pain that I was having when running and that I would think about seeing him. A couple of days later, Dr. Oteo had an open house at his office and raffled some products and a few free visits. One of my co-workers put my name into the drawing and I won. So, despite having an irrational fear of Chiropractors, I made an appointment.

Dr. Oteo is a very earnest young man who cares about his patients and he found that my hips and shoulders were out of alignment causing my hip flexors to become inflamed. As we worked to correct this with adjustments and exercises, I also found out that Dr. Oteo is a certified trainer so I proposed that he take me on as a training client also and I would agree to be measured and photographed and used as a case study for his marketing purposes. To my delight, he agreed. Dr. Oteo has worked with me on my diet and most importantly he has encouraged me to adopt a more positive attitude about life in general. I have talked to him at length about my thyroid issues and my frustrations. He has counseled me to wait and see how my thyroid feels after I have lost some weight. When I started working with Dr. Oteo my weight was 198lbs. After working with Dr. Oteo for 3 months I am now at 175lbs. And, I am noticing that my thyroid seems to be shrinking. I no longer feel like I have something stuck in my throat. My attitude has improved dramatically. I used to run long distance when I was younger and have dreamed of finally being able to run a marathon. Dr. Oteo says that I definitely have it in me to do it. Our goal is to get my weight down to about 130lbs. More importantly, I have stopped drinking and no longer have any problems in the bedroom which of course delights my husband. I also feel like I have something to look forward to again. Dr. Oteo has pulled me back from a very bad place and I am profoundly grateful that he came into the office that day.

I feel like my inner pulse is coming back very strong ever since I started working with Dr. Oteo. He did not push my concerns about my thyroid and weight gain away. That bit of caring meant more than all of the tests that the other doctors have done. They all seemed to want to push my concerns away because the tests came back "normal". I still feel like my weight gain is a direct result of the nodules in my thyroid but am not sure if the other docs will listen to me. Dr. Oteo does want me to continue to see my Endocrinologist and is in no way trying to cast aspersions on what he does. But, after understanding how much results can come from one doctor picking up on my inner pulse, I am not sure that I want to see the same Endocrinologist. My pulse story is not much of one but after reading this book I understand that I must follow up on my instinct that there is still something wrong with my thyroid.

About the Author
Darin Hartley has been working in the training industry for the past thirteen years and has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Corporate Training and Training Management. He is the Developer of New Business Ventures for the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD). He managed various teams at Dell Learning during his five years at Dell Computer Corporation. Darin has presented previously at ISPI International, ASTD International, and the ASTD Technical Skills Training Conference on a variety of topics. He has authored articles for T+D, Technical & Skills Training, and WorkForce Magazines. Darin wrote his first book, Job Analysis at the Speed of Reality, for HRD Press in 1999 and his second book, On-Demand Learning: Training in the New Millennium in March of 2000. Darin's third book, Selling E-Learning, was published in September 2001. Darin is on the Editorial Board of T+D Magazine.

Prior to Dell, Darin worked for Lockheed Martin, EG&G, General Physics Corporation, and the US Navy as a nuclear power plant operator (eight years). He currently resides in Georgetown, Texas just north of Austin.

Great resource for those new to job analysis!

Easy read and well organized material. The facilitator's guide is useful. I especially liked the evaluation of other job analysis methods. The evaluation list the pros and cons of methods such as DACUM. This helped me cut and paste techniques from several methods which made more sense for my situation.

Great nuts and bolts book that is easy to follow.

This book boils down the complex steps of job analysis into simple, easy to find subroutines that allows you to get started immediately.
Mr. Hartley describes all the known alternatives to conducting job analysis processes, then explains how his JASR (pronounced jazz-er) method incorporates them handily into his simplied model. He details each step in his JASR model, giving you plenty of tips to complete each successfully. His years of experience show, and he shares it with the reader generously. Plenty of well done graphics re-enforce the key concepts.
At the end of the book is a thorough "job aid" which again explains the key concepts of each step, and how you can get started implementing it immediately. He also includes a nice section on how to facilitate a JASR section that is applicable to any group meeting. Mr. Hartley says his process can be done in 2-3 hours in one meeting -- and after reading his book, I believe it.

The JASR Process

I found Darin Hartley's book, "Job Analysis at the Speed of Reality", to be an excellent book. The JASR process is easy to follow and perhaps more importantly, it does not require a great deal of time. I also believe that "Job Analysis at the Speed of Reality" also provides an excellent blueprint for mapping exemplary employee's characteristics and behaviors. These are obviously crutial to an organization's success and the JASR method facilitates the gathering of this information.
Overall this is an excellent read and reference book.
